The Intersection of Community Policing, Community-Police Engagement, and Community Trust

The Intersection of Community Policing, Community-Police Engagement, and Community Trust resource defines the terms community, community policing, community-police engagement, and community trust for police leaders by discussing common engagement strategies and clarifying the distinctions and connections between community-police engagement and community trust.

Although the terms community-police engagement and community trust share some commonalities, police agencies need to recognize the differences between them and how they interact to better understand community policing and promote it within their agencies and the communities served.

This resource will provide guidance on how the two terms, community-police engagement and community trust, can be utilized within the agency's operational and cultural mechanisms for a police agency to be the most effective.
