Enhancing Community Trust One Interaction at a Time
The Enhancing Community Trust One Interaction at a Time resource highlights how day-to-day interactions between officers and community members can impact trust in policing and outlines the ways police officers can seek to build trust with community members at the individual level. It outlines how police officers can enhance practices in their routine interactions by outlining how these efforts are cumulative. Positive interactions with community members can build momentum and lead to increased trust in policing over time.

Enhancing Community Trust One Interaction at a Time
The IACP, in partnership with the Education Development Center (EDC), developed this resource based on experience providing training and technical assistance to five police departments around the United States as a part of the IACP's Community Trust Initiative -- a project funded by the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) of the Office of Justice Programs (OJP) at the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ). In addition to providing concrete examples of ways officers can turn small interactions into tangible ways to influence levels of trust, this resource also highlights the innovative efforts implemented by two police departments that help to build trust with the communities, one interaction at a time.
