Measuring Community Trust Tool

This resource provides guidance to police agencies on how to meet the requirements for measuring trust set forth by the IACP's Trust Building Campaign.

The Measuring Community Trust resource was developed after careful review of 25 unique surveys conducted by community and police partnerships in communities around the United States implementing collaborative crime reduction initiatives as part of the Byrne Criminal Justice Innovation (BCJI) program, funded by the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) of the Office of Justice Programs (OJP) at the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ). The IACP identified common measures that connect to levels of trust, such as perceptions of crime, police effectiveness, and community partnerships, to create a guidance document for agencies looking to measure levels of trust in their community.
