Global Reach
International perspectives are vitally important to all law enforcement leaders and IACP helps facilitate the sharing of that perspective through a number of forums. Through relationships with other international organizations, the IACP's members turn to each other to answer questions of global relevance.
Global Policing
With more than 35,000 members in over 170 countries, the IACP has a vast global reach. IACP’s Global Initiatives are housed under the provision of the Global Policing Division. The Global Policing Division was established to provide a strategic plan for the international programs and activities of the IACP.
IACP’s global reach also includes the International Managers of Police Academy and College Training (IMPACT) Section, Trust Building Campaign, Cultural Transformation in Policing, and the International Road Policing Alliance (IRPA).

Singapore Police Force Visit to IACP Heaquarters
On November 21, 2024, the IACP welcomed representatives from the National Center for Victims of Crime and the Singapore Police Force to discuss effective victim response strategies in policing. During the meeting, IACP shared an overview of various projects and initiatives it has spearheaded over the past decade. In turn, the delegation highlighted promising practices being implemented in Singapore to assist victims as they navigate the complexities of the justice system.
Strengthening Law Enforcement’s Partnerships with Women’s Justice Centers in Mexico
Through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Department of State Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL), IACP trained 131 Mexican police officials, victim advocates, prosecutors, and Women's Justice Center Directors from 31 Mexican states on topics related to the police response to domestic violence and sexual and gender-based violence, victim support, and multi-disciplinary team collaboration. Over the life of the cooperative agreement, IACP conducted 10-week long study tours and one virtual training event. Each study tour was conducted at IACP headquarters and one of six U.S. host cities; Austin, TX, Denver, CO, Fairfax County, VA, Miami Beach, FL, Milwaukee, WI, and Colorado Springs, CO. During each study tour, delegates developed change projects based on what they learned throughout the week that they planned to implement upon their return to their home agency.
Swatting & Hoax Bomb Threat Activity Meeting – Washington, D.C.
On February 1, 2024, an IACP staff member attended the Swatting & Hoax Bomb Threat Activity Meeting hosted by the Major Cities Chiefs Association (MCCA) and the Secure Community Network (SCN) in Washington, DC. At the meeting, law enforcement association executive leaders and SMEs discussed operational and policy challenges regarding the alarming rise of swatting and hoax bomb threat activity in the U.S.

Tajik Community Centered Police Patrol Plan & Leadership Development Initiative
On November 18-23, 2024, an IACP staff member was in Dublin, Ireland to attend part one of the Tajik Community Centered Police Patrol Plan & Leadership Development Initiative. The program supports Tajikistan’s efforts to evolve its law enforcement practices, with particular focus on community engagement. The select group of Tajik officers will engage with academics, peers, experts, and public safety leaders from Europe and the United States. The second part of the program will take place in Boston in Spring 2025.
The Iraqi Police Education Program (IPEP)
The Iraq Police Education Program (IPEP) was a cooperative effort from 2010 to 2015 between the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement (INL) and the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) to expose visiting Iraq police officers to United States law enforcement training and policing techniques. Using classroom and field environments in police departments across the United States, the Iraqi police officers were trained in all aspects of policing to include patrol, crime scene investigation, and critical incident command leadership training. During the period of performance (2010-2015), IACP trained 170 Iraqi officers with the assistance of numerous police agencies across the U.S.

Tools for Tolerance for Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice Professionals Course
From February 2-5, 2025, IACP Global Policing Director Matt Langer attended the “Tools for Tolerance for Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice Professionals” course at the Museum of Tolerance in Los Angeles, CA with Canadian police leaders. The course was facilitated through museum tours, discussions, and survivor testimonies to assist law enforcement officers understand historical and contemporary contexts for challenges facing their role as first responders.
Toronto Police Delegation Visit to IACP Headquarters
On November 21, 2024, the IACP hosted the newly elected International Vice Chair of the Global Policing Division, Chief Myron Demkiw, along with other members of the Toronto Police Service at IACP headquarters.
Traffic Safety and BIGRS Partners Meeting
From October 6-8, 2025, IACP staff met with leaders in Córdoba, Argentina to discuss the ongoing efforts to improve traffic safety in the city. After the visit, IACP staff traveled to Buenos Aires, Argentina to attend the Bloomberg Partners Meeting. During the meeting, Bloomberg Philanthropies Initiative for Global Road Safety (BIGRS) partner organizations discussed the ongoing efforts to improve traffic safety in the cities of Córdoba and Buenos Aires.
Training on Emotional Wellness and Resiliency
From June 12-13, 2025, the IACP delivered training for the Bloomberg Philanthropies Initiative for Global Road Safety (BIGRS) project on Emotional Wellness and Resiliency in Córdoba, Argentina. City traffic agents and provincial police learned basic principles of well-being and resilience, emotional intelligence, and stress regulation.

New Global Tiered Dues Structure
Seeking to improve equity for all members, the IACP is announcing a revised tiered dues structure based upon the World Bank’s country economic groupings. The IACP is offering international membership rates to allow those from lower-income economies to have more affordable access to the benefits and resources provided by the IACP.
What does this mean for you? All IACP members will continue to receive invaluable benefits and resources however, international members from lower-income economies will now have more affordable access. Members from Tier I countries will continue to receive Police Chief magazine mailed to them. Members from Tiers II, III and IV will receive access to the translated digital version at a reduced fee. The new membership dues fee structure went into effect on January 1, 2023.
