Global Reach
International perspectives are vitally important to all law enforcement leaders and IACP helps facilitate the sharing of that perspective through a number of forums. Through relationships with other international organizations, the IACP's members turn to each other to answer questions of global relevance.
Global Policing
With more than 35,000 members in over 170 countries, the IACP has a vast global reach. IACP’s Global Initiatives are housed under the provision of the Global Policing Division. The Global Policing Division was established to provide a strategic plan for the international programs and activities of the IACP.
IACP’s global reach also includes the International Managers of Police Academy and College Training (IMPACT) Section, Trust Building Campaign, Cultural Transformation in Policing, and the International Road Policing Alliance (IRPA).

Turkmenistan National Police Delegation Visit
On April 30, 2025, the IACP hosted delegates from the Turkmenistan National Police through the U.S. Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP). The delegates were in the United States to learn more about investigations and case management.
U.S. Department of State International Visitor Leadership Program - North African Delegation Visit
On January 27, 2025, the IACP met with a delegation of North African police officials that were visiting the United States as a part of the Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program. The delegates learned about the mission and values of the IACP and how the IACP supports the continued professionalization of police agencies.
UAE Summer Leadership Tour
A group of university students and officials from the UAE Ministry of Interior visited IACP headquarters as part of a two-month Summer Leadership Tour. While in Alexandria, the group learned about the IACP and local and federal policing in the U.S. from IACP staff and IACP Fellows. Prior to the visit, IACP arranged a tour of U.S. Military Academy West Point for the group.
UAE Trip/GCCPOL MOU Signing
Members of the IACP Board of Directors traveled to Abu Dhabi, UAE in January 2022 to sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between IACP and The Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCCPOL).
Ukraine National Police Delegation Visit to IACP Headquarters
On August 5, 2024, a delegation from the Ukraine National Police visited IACP headquarters discussing crisis negation team (CNT) deployments and effective team practices. The delegation met with representatives from the Fairfax County Police Department, the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (MWCOG) CNT Subcommittee, and Dr. Mimi Mamal, recipient of the 2022 IACP Leadership in the Field of Police & Public Safety Psychology Award.
UNIJEPOL Congress and MOU Signing
From June 2-7, 2025, President Ken Walker, Immediate Past President Wade Carpenter, and Director of International Engagement and Partnerships Vince Hawkes attended the UNIJEPOL Congress (National Union of Local Police Chiefs and Officers in Spain) in Valladolid, Spain and signed an MOU.
UNIJEPOL MOU Signing
During the IACP 2024 Annual Conference and Exposition, the IACP signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with The National Union of Chiefs and Directors of Local Police (UNIJEPOL),which represents police chiefs in Spain. The MOU will help further the IACP’s resource and information sharing with police agencies within the country.
United Nations Road Safety Committee – New York, NY
On June 13, 2024, a member of the Global Policing team attended the United Nations Road Safety Collaboration Meeting in New York, NY.
University of Toronto – Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy
Capstone curriculum project – examining the role of police leaders in response to incidents of the fatal use of force.
Verbal Judo Trainings
From August 11-12 and August 14-15, 2025, two Verbal Judo trainings were held in Bogotá and Cali, Colombia. Each day, 35 traffic agents from both cities participated in the training with the goal of enhancing communication and de-escalation skills.

New Global Tiered Dues Structure
Seeking to improve equity for all members, the IACP is announcing a revised tiered dues structure based upon the World Bank’s country economic groupings. The IACP is offering international membership rates to allow those from lower-income economies to have more affordable access to the benefits and resources provided by the IACP.
What does this mean for you? All IACP members will continue to receive invaluable benefits and resources however, international members from lower-income economies will now have more affordable access. Members from Tier I countries will continue to receive Police Chief magazine mailed to them. Members from Tiers II, III and IV will receive access to the translated digital version at a reduced fee. The new membership dues fee structure went into effect on January 1, 2023.
Visit Membership Criteria to determine your country's tier and corresponding membership fee. United States and Canada are Tier 1.
