Global Reach

International perspectives are vitally important to all law enforcement leaders and IACP helps facilitate the sharing of that perspective through a number of forums. Through relationships with other international organizations, the IACP's members turn to each other to answer questions of global relevance.

Global Policing

With more than 35,000 members in over 170 countries, the IACP has a vast global reach.  IACP’s Global Initiatives are housed under the provision of the Global Policing Division. The Global Policing Division was established to provide a strategic plan for the international programs and activities of the IACP. 

IACP’s global reach also includes the International Managers of Police Academy and College Training (IMPACT) Section, Trust Building Campaign, Cultural Transformation in Policing, and the International Road Policing Alliance (IRPA).

Bloomberg Initiative for Global Road Safety (BIGRS) Site Visit - Buenos Aires, Argentina

In July 2022, IACP staff visited Buenos Aires, Argentina in support of the Bloomberg Philanthropies Initiative for Global Road Safety (BIGRS). While in Buenos, Aires, IACP staff met with initiative partners and participating agencies to coordinate and develop a work plan for the BIGRS initiative. During the site visit, IACP staff held meetings with the Undersecretariat of Mobility and Planning, the Cuerpo de Agentes de Control de Tránsito, and the Policía de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires, and observed speed and drink driving roadside enforcement operations conducted by the respective agencies. IACP also facilitated a speed enforcement training centered on the Safe System Approach which trained a total of 45 individuals.

In July 2022, IACP staff visited Córdoba, Argentina to meet with in‐country partners and participating agencies in support of the BIGRS initiative. Formal introductory meetings were held with local transit and police authorities. While in the city, IACP staff observed drink driving and motorcycle roadside enforcement operations conducted by the Policía Municipal de Tránsito and the Policía de la Provincia de Córdoba. IACP staff also gathered information during the visit to assist in the completion of the city’s baseline assessment report for the grant.

Bloomberg Initiative for Global Road Safety (BIGRS) Site Visit - Delhi and Bengaluru, India

In September 2022, IACP staff conducted a site visit to India to meet with police officials in the cities of Delhi and Bengaluru. IACP staff held meetings with key stakeholders and government officials in furtherance of the BIGRS Initiative in both cities. Topics included ongoing training, policy and procedure enhancement, and future work plans. IACP also observed roadside operations related to speeding, motorcycle helmet use, seatbelt and child restraint use, and drink driving while in each city.

In July 2022, IACP facilitated a meeting between the São Paulo State Military Police (PMESP) and the municipal traffic enforcement agency of the city of Campinas (EMDEC). The meeting was an important step towards encouraging the collaboration between PMESP and EMDEC on traffic enforcement operations. During the meeting the agencies also committed to increased data sharing related to the BIGRS risk factors, particularly drunk driving enforcement.

Bloomberg Partners Meeting

From September 30 - October 1, 2025, the IACP was in Bogotá, Colombia for the Bloomberg Partners Meeting. During this meeting, Bloomberg Philanthropies Initiative for Global Road Safety (BIGRS) partner organizations discussed the ongoing efforts to improve traffic safety in Cali and Bogotá, Colombia. After the meeting, the IACP met with Secretary of Mobility leaders in Bogotá and Cali to discuss traffic enforcement initiatives and how the IACP can continue to support their work.

IACP participated in the Bloomberg Philanthropies Initiative for Global Road Safety (BIGRS) Regional Partners Meeting for Latin America, in Mexico City, Mexico on June 7-8, 2023. The meeting included lectures and panel discussions by government officials and initiative partners from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, and Mexico on road safety challenges and opportunities in their respective countries. During the meeting, IACP co-facilitated a breakout discussion on enhanced traffic enforcement practices and observed a roadside motorcycle inspection checkpoint.

IACP conducted a road safety exchange program in Argentina on September 11-15, 2023. During the exchange program, four traffic agents from Buenos Aires and four traffic inspectors from Córdoba observed enforcement operations and visited facilities in each city to discuss promising practices, lessons learned, and methods to improve daily operations with the goal of enhancing road safety efforts to reduce fatalities and injuries in the respective cities.

Bloomberg Philanthropies Initiative for Global Road Safety (BIGRS) - UN Road Safety Week

IACP delivered training to officers with the enforcement wing of the Delhi, India Transport Department on May 19, 2023. As a part of UN Road Safety Week activities in Delhi, India, 25-30 officers attended the training which covered the topic of safe roadside checkpoints. The training was designed to demonstrate global best practices for the safe set-up and operation of roadside checkpoints for the enforcement of speed, drink driving, and other related offences. 161 of the 640 officers of the enforcement wing have participated in the training, to date.

New Global Tiered Dues Structure

Seeking to improve equity for all members, the IACP is announcing a revised tiered dues structure based upon the World Bank’s country economic groupings. The IACP is offering international membership rates to allow those from lower-income economies to have more affordable access to the benefits and resources provided by the IACP.

What does this mean for you? All IACP members will continue to receive invaluable benefits and resources however, international members from lower-income economies will now have more affordable access. Members from Tier I countries will continue to receive Police Chief magazine mailed to them. Members from Tiers II, III and IV will receive access to the translated digital version at a reduced fee. The new membership dues fee structure went into effect on January 1, 2023.
