Artificial Intelligence in Policing Primers

AI usage is spreading quickly, especially within the policing profession. There are a variety of uses for AI that can streamline police operations, but there are limitations that must be considered. Download the primers below to learn more about Predictive AI and Generative AI, including their possible uses, benefits, and associated threats.

Generative AI: Friend or Foe of Police?

Variations of AI-driven technology has been widely adopted by police agencies, from license plate readers to facial recognition technology. Generative AI, however, poses unique benefits and concerns for the profession. Watch the video below to learn more about the implications of Generative AI, discussed by Oscar Wijsman and Don Zoufal.

Use-Case Collection

The IACP is collecting examples of how police agencies across the globe are using AI. This initiative will lead to the development of a compendium of AI use cases in policing to help promote the exchange of knowledge, encourage the adoption of effective practices, and help guide agencies in navigating risks associated with emerging technology. To assist in the development of this collection, share your insights here. Your department name will not be shared in the collection without your consent.
