Hyunjin Shin

Inspector Hyunjin Shin of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, Yangcheon Police Station, demonstrates practical leadership in community-centered policing, public safety innovation, mentoring, and international event security, earning the trust of both his organization and the public.
For the past decade, he has served on the Seoul Pedestrian Environment Improvement Citizens’ Monitoring Team, applying Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design principles to identify and mitigate local safety risks. Working closely with municipal governments, he has helped build sustainable crime prevention infrastructure. For these achievements, he has received multiple commendations from the mayor of Seoul and local authorities, and in 2023, he was named the Korean National Police Agency’s “Best Community Police Officer,” earning a special promotion.
Insp. Shin believes that real change begins with presence and action, and he embodies this principle through extensive service and volunteerism. He has completed 3,298 hours of volunteer service across 554 missions and was named the National Police Agency’s “Volunteer King” in 2024. As a mentor, he was selected as a BEST Mentor in 2024, guiding new officers with empathy and integrity and leading by example.
Insp. Shin also served as the security team leader for the 2024 Korea-Africa Summit, which required him to manage a complex operation while ensuring the safety of high-level delegates, and he was recognized as a Distinguished Military Family Member in 2025 in recognition of his service and civic integrity.
