Section

Membership in the Drug Recognition Expert Section is open to all active and associate members of the IACP in good standing who are either certified DREs or other qualified individuals who have a professional interest in the Drug Evaluation and Classification (DEC) Program or procedures. Voting rights are limited to DRE Section members who are either certified DREs or "who have a direct responsibility for the management and/or coordination of a DEC Program."

Member Benefit

The DRE Section Community is an online community dedicated exclusively for the needs of the DRE Section membership. It is a one-stop-shop for the information you are looking for related to the DRE Section, its activities, discussions, and resources. We invite you to use the DRE Section Community to connect with fellow section members who are also interested in the efforts of traffic safety and the mission of the DRE Section. Keep up on DRE news and events, share insights, and more.

As a DRE Section member, you will have access to resources in the Resource Library which will be created and shared by fellow DRE Section members. Use the community to learn from the experiences and expertise of others in the section. Get feedback and answers to questions you may have via discussion boards and provide your own feedback and expertise to help others resolve challenges and improve their skills as a DRE or DRE related professional. The DRE Section Community is just one more benefit of being a member of the DRE Section. This is one of many membership benefits available to DRE Section members. Not a member? Sign up today here.

DRE Section Meetings

The DRE section holds its regular meetings bi-annually.  The annual meeting is held in the summer in conjunction with the IACP Impaired Driving and Traffic Safety Conference and the mid-year meeting is a virtual meeting, held the first Thursday in April.  The next scheduled meeting is April 2, 2026. It will be held via Zoom. Additional meeting information will be made available through the DRE Section Community Higher Logic Site.
