New Award for State Associations and Governors Highway Safety Offices
New this year is the State Association and Governors Highway Safety Office (GHSO) award. This award is part of the overall National Law Enforcement Challenge (NLEC) program, where law enforcement agencies can nominate State Associations and Governors Highway Safety Offices to be recognized for exceptional work in encouraging agencies within their state to participate in the challenge. These efforts to promote, coordinate, and expand the NLEC program ultimately contribute to improved high visibility enforcement and a reduction in fatal and injury crashes.
The State Association and GHSO Award presentation will occur in conjunction with the Highway Safety Awards Breakfast at this year’s annual IACP conference in Orlando, Florida. To nominate a state association or GHSO, submit the application, including supporting documentation and appropriate references to Mandy Giordano at [email protected] by Thursday, May 1, 2014. If your state does not yet have a state law enforcement challenge program, contact the IACP to learn more about state programs.
