From March 31-April 4, 2025, the Waterloo Police Department, Ontario, Canada held a Women’s Leadership Institute (WLI) training.
World Regional Chairs Midyear Meeting
From April 23-24, 2025, members of the Global Policing team, along with International Vice President Vincent Vleesenbeek and Director Matt Langer were in Grapevine, TX for the World Regional Chairs Midyear Meeting. This year’s meeting focused primarily on the themes of cybercrime and foreign interference, recruitment and retention, and female leadership in policing. Regional representatives presented on changes and developments within their region and discussed the future of policing, while advancing the efforts of the Global Policing Division.
Turkmenistan National Police Delegation Visit
On April 30, 2025, the IACP hosted delegates from the Turkmenistan National Police through the U.S. Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP). The delegates were in the United States to learn more about investigations and case management.
Railroad Policing Presentation with the UAE Embassy
From April 11-12, 2025, Chief Bryan Laurie, Chair of the IACP Railroad Policing Section, presented to a delegation of Emirati police officials at the UAE Embassy in Washington, DC on the history and challenges of railroad policing. Chief Laurie accompanied the group on visits to freight and passenger rail sites in DC, as part of a larger 10-day study tour, with the goal of enhancing the security and protection of the UAE’s new federal rail system, Etihad Rail.
Senior Workshop on International Rules Governing Police Operations
From April 5-9, 2025, IACP President Ken Walker and Global Policing Director Matt Langer participated in the senior workshop on international rules governing police operations in collaboration with the Colombian National Police in Bogotá, Colombia.
Police Attaché Event at the Embassy of the Netherlands
On March 11, 2025, 45 police attachés attended the IACP Police Attaché Event at the Embassy of the Netherlands. The event furthered the connection between the IACP and various countries.
Interfaith Iftar at the Embassy of Qatar
On March 20, 2025, the IACP attended an Interfaith Iftar hosted by the Embassy of Qatar in Washington, DC and the Multi-Faith Neighbors Network.
“Beyond the Boardroom” Podcast
On March 19, 2025, IACP Global Policing Director Matt Langer recorded a “Beyond the Boardroom” podcast with International Vice President Vincent Vleesenbeek on his current position with the Dutch National Police, his international perspectives, and ways that IACP members can be aware of what is happening globally within the policing profession.
Virtual Pilot Training on Community Policing for South Africa, Uganda, and Kenya
On March 24, 2025, a virtual pilot training on community policing was held for national police representatives from South Africa, Uganda, and Kenya as well as members of the South Africa based NGO, the Ithlokomeleng Batho Rehabilitation Centre (IBRC). The virtual training, presented by Chief James Franklin of the Rochester Police Department, MN was the second of a three-part series, and focused on the Safe Summer Nights community policing model.
