BIGRS Courses and Trainings
On August 29, 2025, the IACP met with traffic safety leaders in Guayaquil and Quito, Ecuador. Discussions focused on ongoing traffic enforcement efforts in Ecuador and upcoming IACP training opportunities.
BIGRS Basic Checkpoint and Instructor Development Courses
On August 28, 2025, the IACP hosted a Basic Checkpoint Course and an Instructor Development Course in Bogotá, Colombia for members of the Colombian National Police and the Secretariat of Mobility of Bogotá.
Community Policing Virtual Training Series
On August 27, 2025, Chief Jack Cauley of the Castle Rock, CO, Police Department conducted a virtual presentation on the “One-by-One Policing” community policing model to police officials from Kenya, South Africa, and Uganda. The presentation, conducted in collaboration with the South Africa based NGO, the Ithlokomeleng Batho Rehabilitation Centre (IBRC), was the third of a three-part series developed to strengthen community policing practices in the region.
Verbal Judo Trainings
From August 11-12 and August 14-15, 2025, two Verbal Judo trainings were held in Bogotá and Cali, Colombia. Each day, 35 traffic agents from both cities participated in the training with the goal of enhancing communication and de-escalation skills.
Pacific Islands Chiefs of Police 52nd Annual Conference
From August 17-22, 2025, IACP President Ken Walker and Global Policing Director Matt Langer attended the 52nd Pacific Islands Chiefs of Police (PICP) Conference centered around the theme “Beyond the Badge: Envision the Next Era of Policing.” This forward-looking theme guided discussions on emerging technologies, regional security frameworks, leadership development, and strategic planning for law enforcement across the Pacific. The conference brought together chiefs of police, Women’s Advisory Network (WAN) members, strategic partners, and international delegates to collaborate on shaping the future of policing in the region.
120th CACP Annual Summit and Tradeshow
From August 10-12, 2025, an IACP delegation headed by President Ken Walker attended the 120th CACP Annual Summit & Policing Tradeshow where Canada’s police leaders meet each year to connect, grow, and prepare for the future. This year's theme was geopolitics and social unrest.
2025 IACP Governing Body Meetings
From August 8-9, 2025, the IACP Governing Body held its summer meetings in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. During these meetings, the Board discussed items of importance to the association and profession, including resolutions on critical public safety issues.
International Road Policing Alliance Second Annual Luncheon
On August 5, 2025, the International Road Policing Alliance (IRPA) hosted its second annual luncheon. David Harrington, Chief Superintendent with An Garda Síochána (Irish National Police) Roads Policing Bureau, was the featured speaker at the event.
Community Policing Virtual Training Series
On July 10, 2025, John Harrington, Minesota Department of Public Safety Commissioner (Ret.), presented a virtual training on “Community Policing in the US – History and Challenges” for members of the South African based non-governmental organization (NGO) Ithlokomeleng Batho Rehabilitation Centre (IBRC) for police officials from Kenya, South Africa, and Uganda. The training was the first of a three-part virtual training series to enhance community police relations within the region.
IACP Presidential Meeting with Police Attachés
On July 25, 2025, the IACP welcomed a group of police attachés to IACP headquarters for an informal gathering with IACP President Ken Walker. The opportunity allowed IACP to connect with police attachés and for them to network with one another.
