Bloomberg Philanthropies Initiative for Global Road Safety (BIGRS) Site Visit - Quito and Guayaquil, Ecuador
From November 12-15, 2024, the IACP conducted a site visit to Quito and Guayaquil, Ecuador as part of the Bloomberg Philanthropies Initiative for Global Road Safety (BIGRS). The IACP mentored traffic agents in Quito on roadside checkpoint operations and prepared traffic agents in Guayaquil for certain situations with established procedures for speeding and drunk-driving enforcement.
Korean National Police Delegation Visit to IACP Headquarters
On November 6, 2024, the IACP met with representatives from the Korean National Police Agency at IACP headquarters to discuss information exchange and future collaboration related to international training.
Bloomberg Philanthropies Initiative for Global Road Safety (BIGRS) Site Visit - Córdoba, Argentina
From November 4-8, 2024, the IACP was in Córdoba, Argentina and met with local agency representatives to discuss the development of a standard operating procedure for the Municipal Traffic Police and the Córdoba Regional Police for further discussions on an MOU for continued collaboration on road policing enforcement.
UNIJEPOL MOU Signing
During the IACP 2024 Annual Conference and Exposition, the IACP signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with The National Union of Chiefs and Directors of Local Police (UNIJEPOL),which represents police chiefs in Spain. The MOU will help further the IACP’s resource and information sharing with police agencies within the country.
Cultural Transformation Roundtable
From October 2-3, 2024, the IACP and the UAE Ministry of Interior (MOI) held a two-day Cultural Transformation in Policing Roundtable, attended by IACP President Wade Carpenter, which convened a small group of police leaders from around the world to discuss strategies for transforming police culture and strengthening public trust.
IACP/UAE MOI Police Academy Exchange Program – Iteration 3
On October 1, 2024, the third iteration of the IACP/UAE Ministry of Interior (MOI) Police Academy Exchange Program began in Abu Dhabi, UAE. Over 90 applications were received and 55 officers representing 29 countries were selected for the exchange program, marking the largest group yet. The officers will experience a condensed version of Abu Dhabi's four-year basic academy program over the course of four months.
IACP Leadership Symposium & Collaborative Exchange Agreement Signing
On October 1, 2024, the IACP held a one-day Leadership Symposium in Abu Dhabi, UAE which featured keynote speaker, retired U.S. Army Colonel Gregory Gadson, who presented on leadership to a group of 150 police leaders. Following the symposium, a ceremonial signing ceremony was held for a Collaborative Exchange Agreement.
The Collaborative Exchange Agreement was signed by the IACP, the UAE MOI, and seven police agencies identified for their commitment to host and participate in future police exchange programs in the UAE, the United States, Canada, and Malta. The signatories were the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the El Cajon Police Department, the Grand Prairie Police Department, the Los Angeles Police Department, the Malta Police Department, the Peel Regional Police, and the Prince Georges County Police Department.
Following the Leadership Symposium, attendees and IACP leadership were able to meet His Highness Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister of the UAE and Minister of the Interior, to discuss opportunities for continued collaboration between the IACP and the UAE MOI.
National Interdisciplinary Cannabis Symposium
On September 29, 2024, an IACP staff member participated as a panelist at the National Interdisciplinary Cannabis Symposium on September 29, 2024, in New York, NY to discuss the application of the DEC Program and Standardized Field Sobriety Tests to identify cannabis-impaired drivers.
National Safer Roads Partnerships Conference
From September 25 – 26, 2024, IACP staff attended the National Safer Roads Partnerships Conference in Manchester, United Kingdom to learn more about Europe's road safety challenges and promising practices to address them.
