Local Government Sets up Donation Account 'Invest in a Vest' to Purchase Vests

The Village of Lewiston, NY,  organized 'Invest in a Vest', a donation account, to benefit the Lewiston Police Department.  The Village government wanted to do something to better protect their local officers after hearing about the tragic shootings, violence, and protests that have been occurring across the country.  The Chief of Lewiston Police brought up in a town meeting that the vests that the department issues are not sufficient enough for the types of incidents that have been occurring more frequently.  'Invest in a Vest' was developed to ensure that the Department would have the coverage it needs. The village will take care of the money that is  donated to ensure that it will be easily accessible for the Chief.  Organizers are hoping to raise money to cover 20 vests.
