Winter Tips

As the weather gets colder we begin to layer our clothing – Make sure when conducting a financial transaction you return all documents, receipts, credit cards and cash into the proper pocket, purse/wallet, even if it requires removing gloves, vests etc.

Exercise and sports during cold weather present other issues – Be confident that you have secured your identity (credit cards, driver’s license, etc.) in secure places when working out at the gym or at the ski resort.

Make a Report – No matter what the season, as soon as you become aware that you have become a victim of Identity Crime, you should immediately make a report to the nearest police agency. Do not wait, because the first step in any identity crime case is the police report.

Shredding is for all seasons – During this time of year you may see an increase in your mail. Make shredding a routine within your household. Shredders also are a recommended gift for anyone during the holiday season.

Donations to charitable organizations – The winter seasons brings with it additional requests for giving. Recommendation is that you KNOW to whom you are giving and when you give you protect your identity.

Tis the Season to Shop – Crowds, noise, unfamiliar venues all contributors to losing your identity. When spending money remember what a philosopher once said: Cheer up, the worst is yet to come…Keep your identity secure during this and every season.
