Research Advisory Committee

The IACP established the Research Advisory Committee in 2003 to promote and support police based research in the US and the world. Through its partnership with, and funding from, the National Institute of Justice (NIJ), the RAC helps federal, state, county and local law enforcement identify key research issues, and conduct timely research , often through partnerships with academic researchers. The major goal of the committee is to develop a National Law Enforcement Research Agenda (NLERA) that will help local agencies prioritize major and emerging policing issues meriting further research.

For more information, contact John Firman, staff liaison.
