Committees, Divisions & Sections Committees Divisions Sections Annual Committee Activity ReportThe Patrol and Tactical Operations Committee met in Phoenix, Arizona, on April 28-29, 2000, hosted by Lt. Col. Norm Beasley, Arizona State Police.Committee action included identifying topics of interest that would benefit IACP membership. Those topics included the following:
We are in the process of writing briefs on these various articles and including them (with links) in the IACP Web Page Resource Directory. We are also working with Beth Currier to develop a resolution on minimum ongoing in-service training recommendations for SWAT/SRT teams to forward to the Resolutions Committee for consideration. We are also considering resolutions relating to biological weapons and funding for first responders and mobile computer devices. This committee expressed concern about costs associated with the clean-up of clandestine labs and how IACP might be able to intervene on behalf of its membership to get federal funding considerations for these expensive clean-ups. This is an ongoing discussion. The committee viewed demonstrations from companies representing night-vision equipment, less-lethal weapons, SRT/SWAT weapons, and armored police vehicles. |
