Organized Crime Committee

Mission Statement:

The committee did discuss the need to enhance the implementation of particular objectives to include the “real time” dissemination component and the continuous analysis of organized crime nexus to other crimes. The mission statement and objectives agreed to by the group are as follows: It is the mission of the Organized Crime Committee (OCC) of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) to seek to strengthen and cooperation and coordination among law enforcement agencies worldwide to effectively dismantle, disrupt and prevent organized crime. It is also the mission of the OCC to be a resource to the law enforcement community and to provide such community with up-to-date/real time information regarding emerging trends, and to establish best practice methods relative to combating organized crime.

OCC Objectives:

  1. Author at least two articles in L/E Periodicals and/or Journals relative to organized crime;
  2. Be a forum to bring together the international law enforcement community to share best practices and innovative strategies aimed at effectively controlling and preventing organized crime in all communities;
  3. Be a resource center for organized crime reference materials, subject matter experts and training/development programs on organized crime and a recognized center for best practices and innovation;
  4. Continuously analyze nexus between organized crime and other disciplines;
  5. Partner/Liaise with the International Organized Crime Policy Coordinating Committee (IOCPCC) in an effort to remain in the forefront of the threat from transnational criminal enterprises; and
  6. Seek to establish closer liaison with Interpol as part of our continuing effort to combat the threat of organized crime.
