Washington Street, which runs the length of Old Town Alexandria, is divided into North and South beginning at the intersection of Washington and King Streets. Upon leaving Alexandria, this street becomes the George Washington Memorial Parkway, ending at Mount Vernon Plantation to the South and I-495 to the North. Parking at the IACP is extremely limited (2 visitor spaces). Some 2-3 hour parking is available on North Washington and Pendleton Streets between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. In addition, there are a number of parking lots/garages available within a few blocks radius. The closest parking garages are the Premier Parking Corporation (703/739-0838), 601 N. Fairfax Street, and the APCOA Parking Garage (703/549-0224) located at 108 N. Fairfax Street. From Ronald Reagan National AirportReagan National Airport is the closest airport to Alexandria. A short cab ride from the airport (approximately 10 minutes) is the easiest mode of transportation. If driving, follow the signs for the GW Parkway South. Once in Alexandria, make a left at the light onto First Street (a Holiday Inn will be located on the corner). Take the first right onto North St. Asaph Street and continue for approximately 4 blocks. Make a right onto Pendleton and a left into IACP’s parking lot. Limited visitor parking is available. From Washington Dulles AirportWashington Dulles International Airport is located approximately 33 miles from Alexandria. To reach IACP Headquarters from Dulles, take the Dulles Toll Road to the I-495 exit. Keeping to the right at the fork in the ramp, merge onto the Capital Beltway (495-Outer Loop). Remain on the Beltway, exit at the Alexandria/Route 1 North (Patrick Street). Once on Route 1 North, get in the far right lane. Turn right on Duke Street (Route 236) and continue until you come to the intersection of Duke Street and South Washington Street. At the light make a left onto S. Washington Street and continue for approximately 8 blocks. Our building will be located on your right at the intersection of Pendleton and North Washington Streets. If you would prefer, you may continue on Route 1 North (Patrick Street) until you reach the intersection of Pendleton and Route 1. Make a right onto Pendleton and continue approximately 3 blocks until you reach the intersection of Pendleton and North Washington Streets. From Baltimore Washington International AirportBWI is 40 miles from Alexandria. To reach IACP, take the Baltimore/ Washington Parkway towards Washington. Merge onto SR-295S, which becomes I-295S. Continue on 295S until you reach the Capital Beltway and take the I-95/I-495S exit. Stay on the Beltway until you cross the Woodrow Wilson Bridge into Virginia. Take the US-1 South/US-1 North exit and keep left at the fork in the ramp. This will take you on to Route 1 North (Patrick Street). Once on Route 1 North, get in the far right lane. Make a right on Duke Street (Route 236) and continue until you come to the intersection of Duke Street and South Washington Street. At the light, turn left onto S. Washington Street and continue for approximately 8 blocks. Our building will be located on your right at the intersection of Pendleton and North Washington Streets. If you would prefer, you may continue on Route 1 North (Patrick Street) until you reach the intersection of Pendleton and Route 1. Make a right onto Pendleton and continue approximately 3 blocks until you reach the intersection of Pendleton and North Washington Streets. From Washington DCTake the 14th Street bridge over the river to Virginia. 14th Street becomes Route 1 South. Merge onto the George Washington Memorial Parkway heading south towards Alexandria. Continue on the Parkway until it becomes Washington Street upon entering city limits. Make a left onto First Street, then a right onto North St. Asaph. Continue on St. Asaph for 4 blocks until you reach the intersection of North St. Asaph and Pendleton. Make a right onto Pendleton, the first left will take you into our parking lot. From Montgomery County, MarylandTake 270S towards I-495S/Northern Virginia. Merge onto the Capital Beltway until you reach the VA-193 exit. This will be the exit for the George Washington Memorial Parkway. Continue on the Parkway until it becomes Washington Street upon entering city limits. Make a left onto First Street, then a right onto North St. Asaph. Continue on St. Asaph for 4 blocks until you reach the intersection of North St. Asaph and Pendleton. Make a right onto Pendleton, the first left will take you into our parking lot. From Northern VirginiaSeveral options are available: From Richmond, Fredericksburg, and points South take I-95N towards Washington. Continue on 95N until you reach the exit for the Capital Beltway. Take the I-495E exit towards Baltimore. Continue on the Beltway until you reach the exit for Route 1 North (Patrick Street). Once on Route 1 North you must get in the far right lane as you will be turning off Route 1 onto Duke Street (Route 236). Make a right on Duke Street and continue until you come to the intersection of Duke Street and South Washington Street. At the light make a left onto S. Washington Street and continue for approximately 8 blocks. Our building will be located on your right at the intersection of Pendleton and North Washington Streets. If you would prefer, you may continue on Route 1 North (Patrick Street) until you reach the intersection of Pendleton and Route 1. Make a right onto Pendleton and continue approximately 3 blocks until you reach the intersection of Pendleton and North Washington Streets. From Annandale and points inside the Beltway take Route 236 (Little River Turnpike) which becomes Duke Street upon reaching city limits. Continue until you come to the intersection of Duke Street and South Washington Street. At the light make a left onto S. Washington Street and continue for approximately 8 blocks. Our building will be located on your right at the intersection of Pendleton and North Washington Streets. From Bailey’s Crossroads and surrounding area, take Route 7E which becomes King Street within city limits. Continue on King Street until the intersection of King and Washington Streets. Make a left onto North Washington Street and continue 5 blocks until you reach the intersection of Pendleton and North Washington Street. Our building will be on your right. Note that King Street is heavily trafficked during normal working hours - expect delays.) The Virginia Railway Express (VRE) does have a station located in Alexandria but be advised that you’ll probably want to take a cab from the station to IACP Headquarters. Metro also has stops at both the King Street and Braddock Road stations that are within walking distance of IACP Headquarters. A cab is recommended from these stations as it is a lengthy walk. |
