Statement of IACP President Terrence M. Cunningham on the Istanbul Ataturk Airport Attack
As President of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), I am sickened and deeply troubled by the attack that took place at the Ataturk International Airport in Istanbul, Turkey today. I, along with the members of the IACP, mourn the lives of those who have perished and hope for the speedy recovery of those who have been wounded in this horrendous attack.
As the Turkish National Police and their colleague agencies investigate and respond to this latest atrocity, I want them to know that they have the support of the IACP and the global policing community.
Unfortunately, the tragic event in Istanbul once again demonstrates the pervasiveness of the threat that radical, violent extremism poses to communities around the world. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims, families, friends and all those whose lives have been devastated by this tragic and senseless crime.
