IACP Granted Observer Status at INTERPOL General Assembly

The International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) announced today that it has been granted observer status for the upcoming  83rd General Assembly of the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL ©). The INTERPOL General Assembly is composed of delegates appointed by the governments of member countries. As INTERPOL's supreme governing body, it meets once a year and takes all the major decisions affecting general policy, the resources needed for international cooperation, working methods, finances and programmes of activities.

The Observer Status designation was announced as IACP President Yost Zakhary, Chief of the Woodway Texas Police Department and IACP Executive Director Vincent Talucci were meeting with Interpol Secretary General Ron Noble to discuss a number of issues of importance to the law enforcement community. 

“IACP’s attendance and participation in the upcoming INTERPOL  General Assembly is a critical step in our efforts to strengthen our relationship and improve our cooperation with INTERPOL,” stated IACP President Yost Zakhary, “We look forward to forging an effective and productive partnership with INTERPOL that will benefit our membership and the law enforcement community as a whole. 

"Working in cooperation with organizations such as the IACP, we can ensure that police on the frontlines understand how INTERPOL's global tools and services can support them in their continued fight against crime," said INTERPOL Secretary General Ronald K. Noble. 

The 83rd INTERPOL General Assembly will be held in Monaco from November 3 -7, 2014.
