2011 National SART Training Conference Scholarships
Sixth National Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) Training Conference and Available Scholarships
The Sixth National SART Training Conference organized by the SANE-SART Resource Service with funding from the Office for Victims of Crime (OVC) at the Office of Justice Programs within the U.S. Department of Justice, will be held May 25-27, 2011 in Austin, Texas.
It is anticipated that as many as 1000 SART professionals from across the nation will gather for this unique multidisciplinary training conducted by leading experts from each of the SART disciplines. The three day conference will feature 72 workshops, six keynote addresses and an exhibition hall of non-profit and corporate exhibitors. The conference will provide valuable learning experiences and networking opportunities for law enforcement, sexual assault nurse examiners (SANEs) and other medical examiners, advocates, prosecutors, and crime lab specialists.
The Office for Victims of Crime is providing funding to support three types of scholarships for the 2011 SART Conference including 50 individual law enforcement officers' scholarships. Team scholarships for SART teams of four members representing four different disciplines will be awarded and 25 Tribal SART Team scholarships for teams of five members representing at least three disciplines will be awarded for the first time.
Scholarships of up to $1,500 USD per team member or law enforcement officer are designed to help to cover the cost of the registration fee, hotel for three nights, and airfare or POV (personally owned vehicle) mileage. Scholarships are limited to available funds.
