Welcome to the Center for Police Leadership (CPL)

Welcome to the IACP Center for Police Leadership website and our Leadership in Police Organizations program!

Since the announcement by Past President Mary Ann Viverette in Police Chief Magazine of the creation of the Center for Police Leadership, the Center has been expanding its capacity to bring the Leadership in Police Organizations (LPO) program to law enforcement agencies throughout the United States. Plans are currently underway to make the LPO program available to our international members.

We are currently training and certifying additional LPO facilitators from around the country to meet the demand for the program. Our LPO Faculty Development Workshop or FDW Course is also being given to enable law enforcement agencies to gain the capacity to instruct the LPO program within their own departments and to the members of surrounding jurisdictions. In the Learn More column of this page, we have provided links which offer insights into the development of the LPO program and its content. There are also articles and commentary on leadership research and innovation.
