LEIM Conference Scholarship Program

34th Annual IACP LEIM Training Conference Scholarship Program

The International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) Law Enforcement Information Management (LEIM) Section’s mission and objectives are focused on promoting the education, development, and exchange of information management technologies and best practices. The annual LEIM Section Training Conference and Exposition is an opportunity to provide practitioners education and training opportunities and a forum to exchange ideas, lessons learned, and best practices within the law enforcement community.

With budgets shrinking and more competition for local funds, many prior conference attendees have expressed concern that they will not be able to attend the annual IACP LEIM Section Conference. To address this concern, the LEIM Section is proposing to offer five (5) full Conference Scholarships for attendance at the 2010 IACP LEIM Section Conference in Atlanta, GA for a recipient from an agency without adequate funding to attend the conference. Full conference scholarships provides for travel, lodging, and conference registration.

Eligibility Requirements
To qualify, applicants must be a member of a law enforcement agency (sworn or civilian) and can establish financial need (see application guidelines below). Priority will be given to applicants who are first-time LEIM conference attendees. Scholarship recipients must agree to submit a report within 30 days after the conference on what recipient learned or gained by attending.

The following criteria have been established:

  • Priority consideration will be given to local, tribal, and state law enforcement agencies;
  • Consultants, contractors, subcontractors, vendor representatives, or other private entities are ineligible;
  • Only one (1) scholarship per law enforcement agency per year; and
  • Individual recipients awarded scholarships are ineligible for future conference scholarships

Guidelines for Application
Submit by mail (not email) the following:

  1. Completed application cover sheet (click here to download)
  2. Written statement on agency letterhead (not to exceed two pages) explaining:
    1. Applicant’s reasons for requesting a scholarship at this time;
    2. Why the applicant is interested in attending the LEIM Conference; and
    3. How the applicant learned about the LEIM Conference and the scholarship opportunity
