Richard Groeneveld

Dr. Richard F. Groeneveld is a principal expert in organizational behavior and leadership, specifically dealing with non-profit and governmental organizations. He retired in 2007 as a commander with the Phoenix Police Department after thirty years of service. For the past five years Richard has consulted with numerous law enforcement and public service agencies and currently is partnered with the International Association of Chiefs of Police and the Organizational Leadership Consortium to provide leadership training across the United States. Richard holds a Master of Public Administration degree, and in 2003 earned his Ph.D. from Arizona State University. In 2005 he wrote the book, "Arrest Discretion of Police Officers: The Impact of Varying Organizational Structures," published by LFB Scholarly Publishing. In 2009, Dr. Groeneveld co-authored the Leadership for Police Organizations text currently used by IACP for their leadership program, a highly intensive three week course.

Richard is a native born Phoenician with a wife, two daughters, a grandson, and a granddaughter. He joined the Phoenix Police Department in 1978 after completing a tour in Europe with the United States Army. In addition, Richard is a graduate of the FBI National Academy and is or has been a member of the American Society of Public Administrators, FBINAA, the Association of Government Accountants, National Association of Schools of Public Affairs and Administration, and the American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors.
