Images for Community Safety

In partnership with the foundation, the IACP’s Crime Prevention Committee developed a CD-ROM filled with a series of photographs depicting potential criminal threats to the average citizen.  Each photograph bears a tag line that encourages the viewer to see that scenario from a criminal perspective and, ideally, to change their behavior to avoid becoming a victim of crime.

For example, one image shows a family returning to their home and the back of the father’s shirt reads, “We went for a walk and left the doors unlocked”; another shows a young girl whose backpack reads, “I’m a latchkey kid.  Just follow me home”.

These images can be reproduced as billboards, postcards, brochures, stickers or any number of forms to enhance department’s outreach to the community and increase their public information and education efforts.
