State Associations of Chiefs of Police (SACOP)
SACOP Midyear Meetings
The IACP’s Division of State Associations of Chiefs of Police gathers twice a year to facilitate and encourage dialogue between local law enforcement and our state and federal partners, provide training programs and presentations on a wide array of subjects to our members, and provide a venue for our membership to build peer networks to continue the exchange of ideas, solutions, and lessons learned throughout the year.
The SACOP Midyear Meeting will focus on the following areas:
- Building a policy platform for the Smaller Department Section
- SafeShield’s overarching message of officer safety and wellness
- Regional issues of local law enforcement
- Training for attendees
- Discussion platforms for critical issues
- And much more!

Who We Are and What We Do
SACOP is the organizing body for the 50 state associations of chiefs of police, facilitating the exchange of information both to leadership and policy makers, and into the field.
Our membership is comprised of the decision-making body of each state association of chiefs of police:
- The presidents of the individual state associations
- The state representatives who serve as the state’s SACOP liaison (often a board officer)
- The executive directors who manage the associations
What we do:
- Facilitate and encourage dialogue between local law enforcement and our state and federal partners
- Provide tools and resources for members to manage their individual associations more effectively
- Create policy guidance on timely and relevant topics in law enforcement
- Provide training programs and presentations on a wide array of subjects to our membership
- Create training projects and workshop topics generated from our membership
- Oversee the SafeShield Committee, which works to promote officer safety
- Oversee the Smaller Department Section to represent the unique needs of small and rural agencies
